The International Center for Tortoise COnservation
The International Center for Tortoise Conservation (http://theictc.com/) has been established by Dr. Ido Zuri, a Prof. of Biology that studied many years behavioral ecology, with the emphasis on chemoreception and intra-specific interactions of reptiles and mammals in the field and Lab worldwide. Dr. Zuri (DVM) also graduated a Veterinarian school and nowadays concentrates his efforts in curing reptile disease, many of which are related to husbandry problems. The International Center for Tortoise Conservation aims to create breeding programs for endangered (or close to this status) tortoises, wishing to release them back to nature in future time. Dr. Zuri’s Motto is “Human has no right to extinct any wild species whatsoever. In the absence of wild habitat left in the far future- we must conserve last individuals in sanctuaries for that purpose”. Currently Dr. Zuri collaborates Internationally in order to develop his project of saving and breeding tortoise species, and develop educational programs in this field.
